The SJE (Society of Jewish Entrepreneurs), Rabbi Zalman Lipskar’s group for striving and successful young Jewish professionals, had an exclusive afternoon with the Founder of the world renowned Bal Harbour Shops, Stanley Whitman.
Oren Alexander, of the famed Alexander Team that sold the first 100 Million dollar apartment in NYC, hosted the event at the Modern Beach House, designed by Chad Oppenheim.
After beautiful introductions by Rabbi Zalman Lipskar, Oren Alexander and Rabbi Sholom Lipskar, Mr. Whitman spoke about the early days of Miami and the vision he had for the Bal Harbour Shops, the highest grossing retail property in the world that exceeds $3,000 per sq foot, with the closest competitor doing $1,000 per sq foot and the average successful retail space earning $500 per sq foot. He then answered questions from the group, with the clear instructions that there should be no reservation. It was a fun back and forth, with the Q&A ranging from politics, secrets to winning in business and what every young person should be doing when they start out in business.
After, as Hor D’oeuvres and wine were passed around, the group got a tour of the house that is a modern marvel. Rabbi Sholom Lipskar said it beautifully, “Most homes have art on the walls, this house is the art itself!”
New friendships were made, great ideas discussed, and insightful lessons learned.
We’re looking forward to the next event!
